Shema

It has been years since I last posted. I'm not going to give a full recount of the past four years but the stories will unfold over time. I've neglected my journal for too long and its void is obvious. In my lived experience journaling is important for me to reflect, maintain focus, and keep accountable to my pet projects.

I had a breakthrough today. Everything has a foundation, and the trick to making anything look easy is to know the elements of the foundation so well that you can manipulate them on your feet with ease. Perhaps foundation don't covey the entire picture. The outline is more like touchstones, or cairns on the path that guide your journey. Effective writing has outlines, syntax, conventions. Drawing, Painting, Graphic Design and visual communication relies n a series of organizing grids and recipes for the use of color and value. Mathematics has it's formulas that mare deftly reformulated by the mathematician to suite immediate needs.

This brought up a problem for me that illuminates Plato's problem of mimesis; when is the representation beyond communication and into the realm of art? When does the writers craft transcend information broadcasting into something with a noble impart? When is a painting not a likeness or the representation of a mood or mental state but , for lack of better words, art?

In my own journey, I'm composing a definition of motivation for myself the uses goal setting as the foundation for creating enthusiasm for purposeful action with a desired outcomes.
